5 Things You Didn't Know About Your Refillable Phox Water Filter
How often do you discover that your daily essential items often have more than one use, or that you haven’t been utilizing them in the best way? We tend to lean towards an autopilot mode whenever we interact with these everyday essentials. In this blog post, we will share new tips that you probably weren’t aware of about your Phox refillable water filter. After using your filter in your daily drinking routine, we’re sure you have questions about how the jug works, how it improves the water and how you can tackle the issues that might appear during use.
Listed below are five things you will be surprised to know about the Phox V2 Water filter.
1. The Alkaline Pack gives the water an ORP reading between -200 and -400mv.
Hence, this means that the oxidation reduction potential of drinking water is going to be about -200 to -400 millivolts, providing it with powerful antioxidant properties. So, why does this happen? It is possible because the number of the reducing agents within the water is increased, halting the oxidation process. Click here to read more about this process.
2. The pH level will stay consistently the same overnight.
Do you think about what is going to happen to the pH level of the water if it is filtered during bedtime and left until the morning? The answer to that question is that it will stay relatively stable, which is good news. A test was conducted where the starting pH prior to filtration was 7.2 and post-filtration level 9.6. We kept it in the refrigerator for 9.5 hours; the pH level went down to 9.1. This concluded the fact that if you keep a filled jug in the refrigerator, the pH will pretty much remain stable.
3. Use our digital app to track your refills.
The Version 1 product had a little plastic indicator that showed how you can track the longevity of your filter and when to change it. We wanted to make sure that we stuck to our mission of using less plastic with the V2 in every aspect of its use. Therefore, we replaced our physical indicators and incorporated that into a mobile app. This app can be downloaded for free on the App Store & Google Play. 4. Don’t test the pH level by using urine and saliva strips.
These types of test strips are for those purposes only. When they are used to test water’s pH, they tend to show flawed results. In order to accurately test water’s pH level from an alkaline water filter it’s best to use an electronic pH meter. This reliable method is going to show an accurate pH reading to two decimal points. Giving you peace of mind in knowing the effectiveness of your filter in terms of enhancing the pH level.
5. You should wash your jug every week.
This is a very simple tip, but it is one of the most important ones. Wash your Phox Water jug similar to how you wash your other kitchen items. Small particles tend to accumulate towards the bottom of the jug, so it’s very important to keep your jug clean. In order to properly wash it, follow these steps:
- Remove the reservoir with the attached filter cartridge so that no soapy residue comes close to the cartridge.
- Next, use warm water and washing up liquid to clean the jug.
- Rinse and dry it out properly before placing the reservoir back inside in order to continue filtration.
